The waltz is basically a dance that is devoid of any dramatic movements. It is characterized by moving along a line of dance. Taking a step, a slide and a three quarter step with rise and fall movements form the basics of the dance. The dancers’ shoulders should be moved subtly in a parallel pattern with the floor. The goal is to lengthen each step taken. In the initial beat of music a step is taken on the heel ,then onto the ball of the foot and extend to the toes in the second and third order of music. At the conclusion of the third step the feet should be returned to their initial position.
The Viennese waltz is comprised of rotational movements and has a reputation of being classical. The couple revolves around each other all the while rotating on the floor. The pace at which it is performed rivals the classical dance in speed. It comprises of a simpler version that can be easily executed making it perfect for social occasions. It features sweeping turns and graceful motions that exude an image of simplicity and elegance.
The foxtrot dance is comprised of walking steps and side steps. Lengthy movements are taken with the same rise and fall actions of waltz though more simplified. The dance line shares some resemblance with that of a waltz but the diversity is portrayed clearly in the timing. The steps may be quickened or slowed utilizing a beat or two in that order.
People have been more receptive to the tango. This may be attributed to the fact that it can be used to pass romantic messages in the way it is performed. The presence of both parties of the opposite sex is necessitated. It is comprised of distinct dance steps all under the same wing. A tight or a more relaxed embrace may be observed in diverse forms of tango. The closed embrace features close touch of the chest or hip area while the open embrace sees the partners enjoy the dance while maintaining their personal space. It is a form of relaying the intended message without necessarily employing the use of words.
